March 3rd marks the day Bulgaria celebrates their independence and liberation from Ottoman Rule of nearly 500 years. It was on this day in 1878 that the Treaty of San Stefano was signed between Russia and the Ottoman Empire and ended the Liberation War or Russo-Turkish War.
